POPCORN MEATLOAF? Cookingūü•£ and poppingūüĆĹ in Aunt GG's Kitchen.

Welcome everyone and our guest "off the street" person with a recipe.

Here we go. . .  So, person . . . I do not know at all??  What do you have for us?

Well first off . . . did you know colonial housewives' poured milk or cream and sugar over popcorn and ate it like cereal?

No, I did not know that or want to try it for that matter . . .

I also have a semi- family recipe that was used during WW II, to stretch limited meat and food supplies. There were many ways families tried to make a meal go farther with as much protein as possible . . . But there was a war on, and everyone was doing the best they could to help. Here is a recipe where popcorn helped that need.

Popcorn meatloaf

1  1/2 lbs. of ground meat(s)

1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce

1 cup of ground popcorn plain

1 small onion, chopped

1 beaten egg

Combine all ingredients. Bake in a moderate (325') oven for one hour. Serve with tomato sauce or ketchup. Can be made into hamburgers also.

Sounds interesting . . . But at the same time, it is not a bad idea to use ground popcorn as a substitute instead of breadcrumbs.

1 cup of breadcrumbs has about 14 grams of protein.

Where 1 cup of ground popcorn has over 24 grams of protein. Almost double the protein per cup . . .

Thank you, person . . . "I do not know" for the history lesson and recipe . . .

You're welcome, Aunt GG . . .

Till next time . . .

You're just not happy . . .  unless you've had happy valley popcorn
