1915 - Almond Nougat with POP-CORN🌽?? Cooking🥣 & popping in Aunt GG's Kitchen

     While looking for interesting and odd factoids in history We came across this recipe that was used by great aunt CC at the turn of the century. She was visiting some friends in Pennsylvanian Amish country and came upon this candy and asked for the recipe. so here it is.

      Right from the stained crumpled gooey paper stuck to the attic cookbook bookshelf.

POP-CORN Almond Nougat candy 1915 recipe  

      Take two cupful's of white sugar 1/4 cup of water and 1/4 cup of corn syrup. Melt over the fire till the sugar dissolves, then stir in 1 cupful of chopped pop-corn and 1/2 cup chopped almonds. Boil to the hard rock stage, flavor with a little almond extract. Pour into the buttered pans. When cold, break into pieces or cut when semi cold into squares with a sharp knife.

     So here at Aunt GG's Kitchen we try each recipe and the results were:

It's a traditional nougat hard candy bar and tastes great.
